Jesus finds combative Pharisees and spiritually apathetic disciples in this passage.  In other words, He encounters a demonstration unbelief in this passage.  Taking v. 15, Christ’s central warning of against “the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod,” we can beware the effects of unbelief in our own lives.  We can avoid the risk of denying Christ or being darkened in our understanding of Christ.
